Happy July 4th Celebrations - Palm Beach County, Florida
History of July 4th in the U.S.A.
The Fourth of July, also known as Independence Day or July 4th, has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1941. But the tradition of Independence Day celebrations goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution.
Since 1776, July 4 has commemorated the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. By the late 19th century, Americans were celebrating with firework displays, parades, speeches, and picnics—a tradition that grew alongside innovations like projectile fireworks and stadium fireworks showcases.
In the 20th century, these celebrations transformed into highly organized civic events. Cities began coordinating large-scale firework displays synchronized to music, interwoven with military tributes, live entertainment, and family-friendly features like carnival rides and craft booths.
Today, Independence Day remains a bond uniting Americans through shared rituals—especially public fireworks, patriotic music, and community festivals. We have included below some of our favorite spots to enjoy the holiday.
